Sycamore Estate ServicesEstate Services

Junk removal for whole houses, garages and basements.

Sycamore clears whole properties: houses, garages, basements, sheds and storage units. It works like junk removal, with one difference. Everything is sorted before it goes on the truck, and part of what can be resold comes off the price.

What we take

Furniture, appliances, mattresses, electronics, clothing and linens, books and paper, kitchenware, tools and garage contents, exercise equipment, and the general contents of a house.

What sells is resold. What can be donated or recycled is, and electronics go to a recycler rather than the trash. The rest is hauled for disposal.

When we are not the right call

If you have a sofa or a few things for the curb, a single-item pickup service or your city’s bulk collection will usually cost less. On a few items there is nothing for the sort to find, so it saves you nothing.

Where it pays is a whole property: a house being emptied for a sale, a garage or basement that has filled up over decades, or a storage unit nobody wants to keep paying for.

How the price works

Like any junk removal, it is priced on volume, the carry to the truck and disposal. If there are things we can resell, part of what we expect them to sell for comes off that price, and a job with nothing to resell pays the standard price. House and estate cleanouts sets out the rules we price by.

In Illinois, Chicago’s South Side and south suburbs: cleanouts on the South Side and in the south suburbs.

Common questions

Do you donate what you take?
Where a charity will take it. What charities accept is narrower than most people expect, and what happens to items that don’t sell has the details.
Can you clear a storage unit?
Yes. Tell us the facility and the unit size when you ask for an estimate, and whether the facility needs our names on a list before we arrive.
Do I need to sort anything first?
No. Tell us what you are keeping and leave the rest. Sorting is the part of the job we do for you.
